Where is my snack "Mommy" ? and a Tuesday note....

Kijin is soon to be 2  ! Next week in fact!  Our little man is talking up a storm and doing really well in his daycare! The word of the day is usually "Mine!" He just got his little Daycare Report Card and he is doing great!  He is still the top "Hoarder!" of all the Trains in the classroom when they are brought out at play time!
Kyler has had a busy few weeks at school. He was running in track a few weeks ago, almost finished the race, then his shoes came off ! What to do??  He kept running and he did not come in last ! He was happy about this!  His softball school team placed in 3rd last week. He enjoyed playing softball again because they did well and did not come in last like his last years Pickering team!
He has completed his season of "Fencing". He has yet to decide to go back to it in the fall or try something else? But he did well in it, the sport has its slow and fast moments!
His grade 5 class will be ending soon with a trip to see the Argos play and a full day at Canadas Wonderland. I can't believe he will be going into grade 6 in the fall! Where has the time gone? I remember when he started kindergarden :(  !!!
We are soon ending June with Kijin's 2nd birthday BBQ and a week of camping with the family!!! A busy few weeks ahead of us!

The Kissing Dutchies...Happy Birthday Grandma!

What to get Grandma Wiersma for her birthday???   I found these in a store which needed a little TLC, a touch up here and there and voila!  The Kissing Dutchies turned out great !  (  my own parents have a pair in their garden which look really cute !  ) Grandma loved them and they will soon be added to her garden in Wasaga Beach !  Enjoy them Grandma!

Love and kisses from 4 other Dutchies---KEKK Wiersma!

Kyler and "Dads" Sphinx project!

This year for the Grade 5's project was Egypt!  The kids in Kyler's class got to pick various items to make or build or cook something from the Egypt era. Kyler picked the "Sphinx" !  So Kyler and dad took at least a month of planning, building, sanding, glueing, and painting the above "Sphinx". It is all built out of wood and it  turned out great !  Kyler got a perfect mark on his assignment !    The class and the rest of the school had a "Night at the Museum" show off night , with all the projects on display.......great work everyone ! Next in grade 6 it will be "Indian Projects".  Maybe Kyler and Dad can build a T-PEE next!! ??

Kijins BUZZZZZZ cut

 Before.....

After.....
Our little Kijin has grown so much and is talking up a storm lately!  The above photo was just last week, enjoying his first "whole" ice-cream cone and of course his before long hair photo.  Kijin HATES haircuts !  Screams and screams, while the poor hairdresser is trying to cut his hair. This time I had to hold him in the chair with no capes on! Tears, running nose and hair all over the place, but the end result was a cute one!  Soooo much cooler too for him, since he sweats like anything!  Kyler got his hair cut too ! ( with a McDonalds bribe he got it buzzed off too! )
Kijin is starting to talk a bit more now...a few words we hear often now are, "mine!" "no" "train, bus, truck, A, " and a few more! He is still doing great in daycare, picks up every virus under the sun still, colds, fevers, etc !
Here is his, chilling out with his glasses on, ready for mom to take him around the Oshawa Zoo. We took Kyler here years ago and its a really nice zoo to go for a few hours to check out the animals......mostly farm animals but a few exotic animals there too. It was just Kijin and I having a fun morning....while Dad and Kyler were at home working on the deck!!

Our little Kijin will be 2 already on June 18th........I think it will be a "Thomas the Tank Engine" themed birthday !

Kijin's shape ball

WOW !  Our smart little Kijin has the shape ball down pat already!!!  Smart little monkey can get all the shapes in by himself now. He needs some help pulling it apart and shaking out all the shapes.......but once thats done , he goes right at it and gets those shape pieces in. UMMMMM !  He soon will figure out again on how to get out of his play area and or his crib I know it!!

New Pickering Go Bridge

Here we are on a Sunday checking out the new Pickering Go Bridge that goes over the 401 near the Pickering Town Centre Mall.  Kijin loves "Trains" so we could have been here all day watching the "Go Trains" going in and out of the Pickering Go Station!   CHEW CHEW ! Kijin says !

Kyler learning to Fence- En Garde !

En Garde !   Our Kyler is learning to Fence on Wednesday nights in Ajax. I thought Kyler may enjoy this, since he likes the "Pirates of the Carribean" movies!
He just started a few weeks ago. Kyler is in the beginning class which range from 8-12 years old. ( most of them are boys! )They first learn to "Lunge" "Parry" and the basics of fencing before they put on the gear and give them swords! Last week, they were able to put on the protective gear, which is a helmit, a coat, and a glove. They also use plastic swords, and real fencing swords. I don't have a picture yet of him holding his sword, but they just started to use them!

Here is some basic info on fencing:
Fencing, which is also known as modern fencing to distinguish it from historical fencing, is a family of combat sports using bladed weapons. It is also known as french swordfighting or french swordfencing. It is usually practised with the help of a sword or mini-blade.
In fencing, two players face off against each other. The first player to score 15 points by jabbing, or "touching," wins. Matches last a maximum of nine minutes. En Garde !

It's a bit early to tell yet, to see if Kyler is really into this sport "Fencing" , but it's a good work out and it's different ! He enjoys the "swords" of course !  The classes go until early June.  We will keep you posted !

Our Boys !

Our Kyler has grown so much this year ! He is almost as tall as me and I'm 5'4 ! He can wear my running shoes with no problems !  His hockey league is finished for the year, so here is all dressed up at the year end party. The team came in 6th place and Kyler got a trophie. The coach said the following about Kyler....
"Special congratulations to Kyler Wiersma who played up a year instead of playing atom. Despite the age difference ( it means a ton at this age) you played consistantly well throughout the entire season. I'm sure you will play great over the next two seasons in peewee. It isn't easy playing with older boys and you did a good job! "

And here is our smilely "Kijin" posing for Dad's camera!  He is going to be 2 soon and he is doing so well !  His is coming along just fine in his daycare and so far the sick days have slowed down ! Yeah!   He still loves Elmo , but we think "Thomas the Tank Engine" is going to be the next  #1 !!!!

Kyler's March Break !

Every year, Kyler gets 2 weeks off for March Break ! So he started it off with going to the Toronto Zoo with Ed, and his grandparents and uncle and cousins.( Percy and Orion) The weather was not the best but the animals were all out ! Kyler had my camera and of course took many photos of the animals !  Great Pictures though!

I have been playing squash since December. Kyler wanted to play, so off we went to a free Squash clinic in Ajax. We got a free lesson and a free court to play. WE were asked to have our pictures taken for the "SNAP Ajax newspaper". So this and a few more on their website are the shots they took of us. We also put in our names for a free prize in their draw and Kyler won a new Squash Racket!  He enjoyed it and hopefully he will continue to play and not kick my butt!

Kyler also enjoyed a few days with Nana and Grandad in Kitchener and hung out with his cousins and swam at the rec pool. He finished his hockey season as well. The team coming in 5th !  Then off he went to Wasaga Beach to hang out with Grandpa and Grandma. The weather was beautiful remember that week? Kyler swam in the lake at Wasauga Beach!!! Plus in the outdoor pool at Blue Mountain!  He also helped grandma out at the local food bank and biked everywhere! He had a great week there too!!!

Kyler made the top of his class along with his buddy Stephen with the best speeches. The school competition was on the 29th of March in Mississauga.Kyler and Stephen did a fantastic job standing up in front of a room full of grade 5's and being judged on their speeches!  Kyler spoke on"My Brother Kijin" and Stephen did one on "Dreams". They did not place but their school came in 2nd place overall!  Great job guys!!!! They get to enjoy a pizza party on Thursday for all the contestants!

Happy Spring everyone !

KEKK Wiersma !

March News

Wow!  March went by soooo fast !!!    WE started off March with celebrating my birthday !  The kitchen was decorated, i got flowers, a dinner out and wonderful gifts from friends and family !  Thanks for a great birthday!!!

Kijin is now 21 months old and getting use the family schedule....and getting use to his daycare. He has the odd sick day - but his immune system is being buit up right??  He is getting more words in his vocabulary and we know he knows exactly whats going on and is very smart! He says "Mum" "DAA!" and "kker" ? for Kyler ! HE loves trains , Elmo and still likes to pick everything off the ground ! ( Kyler did this and brought things home from school !!!! ) Last week, he would not walk on the backyard grass ! He would stand there and then tiptoe or cry..we were wondering what was going on! Was he afraid of his shadow??? Nope......!  I asked the daycare and they laughed and told me, that one week , they could not stand on the grass because of the puddles and muddy ground ! LOL  !

We also celebrated our "Forever Family Day!" with Kijin on March 27th ! YES ! It has been 1 year already !  My goodness !  Time flies eh?  WE had a nice dinner at home with an icecream cake !  We will probably celebrate this day every year !

It's Official

It's Official ! On February 15, 2012 us KEKK Wiersma's attended family court in Oshawa to have Kijin's Adoption Order completed and signed! He is now a "Wiersma!"
The judge opened his speech with telling us how proud he was of parents and families who adopt. He told Kyler he had brother responsibilities and told Kyler to look after Kijin for the rest of his life. He signed the Adoption Order document with a special pen and wanted to take a photo for the court. WE also took photos and thanked them. The judge gave us a "Loonie" coin, and Kyler got a car toy and Kijin got a stuffed bear.
What a great way to start off a "Family Long Weekend"! We are blessed to have the Adoption completed and we thank our friends and family who have supported us throughout this wonderful process!
Thank you!

Kylers Grade 5 Speech

Our Kyler had to do a speech this year in grade 5. He decided to do one on Kijin. So he worked on his speech ( with help from us ) and called it"My Little Brother". He had to say it up in front of his class a few weeks ago and made top 4 in his class! He was excited but nervous! The following week he had to say it in front of a panel of teachers in the principals office! OH OH ! He went first and did a great job ! So him and another classmate were picked to say it in front of many other schools in our Region in Mississauga on March 1st 2012! He will have to memorize it and battle his nerves to speak it on stage in front of many people ! Wish him luck and keep him in your thoughts that day! We are sooo proud of him!!!

Haircut for Kijin

Well it was that time again that Kijin needed a haircut! OH OH! Exactly!

I took him to a kiddy haircut place and sat him down in the "train" seat! As soon as the lady started her shaver, he screamed and cried and did not want that cape on! So she quickly did a fast cut and did a great job considering! No more afro! LOL !!!! What a grown up little boy all of a sudden!!!! He is now 20months old ! :)

Korean New Year Party January 2012

On January 21, 2012 , we headed out to the Korean New Year party in Mississauga! Kijin's "Hanbok" still fit him ! So we dressed him up and enjoyed the show they put on for us. There was dancing, a drum show and a fashion show. All the children there even got 5.00$ each from the Korean elders! There was a wonderful Korean lunch put on for everyone as well!

새해 복 많이 받으세요 (seh heh bok mahn ee bahd euh sae yo)

Happy New Year in Korean !

Snow Fun

When we do have snow, we are out in it! Kijin loves to be pulled around in his sled and going down the hill! We only made one snowman this year!

Kijin also gets to get outside every day when he is at daycare. They too get the kids out in the snow and pull them around in their sleds!

Belated Christmas Photo

As promised , here is a Christmas photo ! It was an "Elmo" Christmas for Kijin and a Lego Christmas for Kyler. They both got full stockings from "Santa" and spoiled from both sets of grandparents of course :)

Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Sae-hae-bok ma-ni pa-d?-se-yo!

Hi there ! It's been awhile but we have been busy !

Last weekend, we attended the Korean New Years party in Mississauga.
We dressed Kijin up in his "Hanbok" and off we went ! It still fit him !
We enjoyed a fan dance, a drum show, a Korean clothing fashion show and more!
( i do have photos, i have yet to post them ) The other Wiersma's were there as well, so we enjoyed seeing the boys in their "Hanbok's" and took as much photos as I could. We did not stay for the wonderful lunch they put on for everyone, we hope to enjoy the Korean food at the next even ! YUM !!!

Kijin is getting use to his daycare- but unfortunately every 2 weeks he is coming home with a virus ! He got "Hand Foot Mouth Virus" a few weeks ago, which is a virus that brings out pox marks around the mouth , hands and feet, with fevers of course ! Poor guy ! It was soooo bad!!! Once he was over that, he got a sinus cold ! Yikes !!!

We finally got a court date to complete our Adoption Order/papers in February. !! YEAH ! Finally, then from here , we will apply for Canadian Citizenship, name change etc. !!!
Another year of paper work to be filled out and waiting for completion!

Otherwise, all is good- we are back in our routine.

I promise to post pictures soon!

Kijin starts Daycare

What a week ! Kijin started daycare this past week and so far its going pretty rough! Since Kyler and Ed were still off , they got to drop Kijin off at his daycare and either I or they would pick him up.......first day was only a few hours....he did ok, happy to see Kyler and Ed pick him up...not so bad that day ! Wednesday was his first full day , including a nap there......he did ok, loved playing with the trains but definately did not like the little beds ! So no nap ! Yikes...! I picked him up that day...he cried when he saw me and he was ok at home but had a really rough night. Up every few hours.....so I think he was dreaming about his daycare ! By Friday, he had enough ! When Ed and Kyler got him home, he was pretty ticked off with us !!!! Crying, and not wanting to be held by us.......he knows he was left at the daycare and does not like it ! So he is ticked with us for sure.....by Saturday afternoon, he was comfortable with us again and started to play with his toys on his own.....! This ain't over yet ! More to come !!! We hope it will just take some time to getting use too ! :(
Otherwise , Ed and Kyler did the odd job around the house, and cleaned and put away all the Christmas stuff. Kyler starts school again on Monday, Ed back to work ( after 3 weeks off ) and me back to work and carpooling and hoping Kijin will get use to the daycare !
Happy January everyone !!!
